1976 Boulder County Hospice becomes the first hospice in Colorado

1977 Fifteen patients in the first year

1981 Become national training site for new hospice organizations

1982 First PIZAZZ! dinner/dance fundraiser

1983 Irene Rothgerber donates home on Marine Street, which becomes new headquarters

1991 Satellite office opens at the James House in Longmont

1995 Name changes to Hospice of Boulder County

1999 HospiceCare Center opens in leased space on Balfour campus in Louisville

2001 Services are consolidated in new Lafayette office

2003 Name changes to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties

2005 Thrift Shop and Grief & Education Center open in Boulder

2006 Formed partnership with Bumbuli Lutheran Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care in Tanzania for mutual learning and support

2007 Longmont office opens and Palliative Home Health is introduced

739 grieving children, teens, and adults participated in grief support groups or received individual or family counseling
43 children and teens attended Camp Erin, our first weekend-long grief camp
Moved the HospiceCare & Share Thrift Shop two blocks east, to 5565 Arapahoe, to better serve the needs of our community

1,536 seriously and terminally ill patients and their families received unparalleled medical, emotional, and spiritual care and support
1,994 grieving children, teens, and adults from both HospiceCare families and the community participated in grief support groups, counseling, or phone support.
51 children and teens from across the Front Range of Colorado attended our second annual Camp Erin
Awarded Partner Level 4 Certification from the NHPCO's We Honor Veterans Program. This designation, one of only six given to hospices around the country, shows the expert level of care we give those who have bravely served our country.
Started the 11th Hour Program where specially trained volunteers provide gentle companionship for those who are imminently dying without family support and would prefer not to be alone.
