
Appointed in 2001, Darla previously served as Executive Director of hospices in Washington, DC and Greeley, Colorado. She is recognized as a national leader in the hospice industry and has served on the Board of Directors of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, as President of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, and as President of Boulder Rotary. Darla received the Boulder Chamber of Commerce Women Who Light the Community Award in 2005 and the Daily Camera Pacesetter Award for contributions in science/medicine/and health in 2010.
A graduate of the University of Houston and Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Ferguson was chief resident at the University of Colorado Department of Neurology; served as Assistant Professor at CU’s School of Medicine; and had a private practice in Boulder for six years before joining HospiceCare’s staff in 2005. Dr. Ferguson is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., and board certified in its subspecialty of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She manages HospiceCare’s staff physicians, works extensively with local physicians, and serves on Boulder Community Hospital’s Ethics Committee and the Clinical Steering Committee for Boulder County Health Information Exchange.
Well-known and highly respected in our service area, Pat has worked for HospiceCare since 1991 as a nurse and manager. She currently oversees program development and delivery of patient care. Pat also serves as an instructor and mentor in leadership training for the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She is board certified in hospice and palliative care and received the Colorado Hospice Organization’s Spirit of Hospice Award in 2005.
In addition to overseeing all finance and facility operations and administration, Brian leads the agency’s IT efforts and has developed our remote patient care information system utilized by clinicians at locations where patients reside. Brian has over 25 years of experience in hospice programs and previously served as Executive Director at Hospice of Larimer County.
Lauretta is responsible for the planning, coordination, direction, and implementation of the consultative sales and admissions program for hospice, including short and long term strategies for increasing access to services. Lauretta graduated from Regis University with her Masters in Nursing Leadership and a focus on Education. She has taught in the RN Refresher program at Red Rocks Community College. An eight year veteran of hospice, her focus is on superb customer service and meeting the needs of the community.
In addition to being responsible for the overall direction of high quality, patient-centered, cost effective home based clinical services, Tracy also oversees family/community centered bereavement services. She leads and coordinates the provision of services in a manner that promotes a team approach, assures caring and respect for patients and families, meets Medicare/Medicaid conditions of participation, and accreditation requirements for both home health and hospice services. Tracy has worked for HospiceCare for seven years, and has been a nurse since 1997. Her previous position was Director of Central Staffing and Triage.
With over 30 years of professional communications/marketing experience and numerous awards for her work in the field, Mary brings innovation and excellence to Fund Development and Communications at HospiceCare.
Kathy manages our major gifts and planned giving programs. She is a recognized nonprofit leader in the community, having founded and led Community Food Share for 19 years. Kathy was awarded Boulder Daily Camera’s Pacesetter Award for Community Service in 1991.
Sheila oversees the educational, admissions and access functions of the agency. With 7 years of experience in senior residential programs prior to joining HospiceCare’s staff in 2005, Sheila’s expertise in strategic initiatives, marketing, sales and healthcare provides the foundation of her department’s success.
Jackie directs recruitment and retention programs, staff orientation and training, benefit administration, policy and procedure design and implementation, volunteer coordination and the agency’s safety initiatives. Jackie joined HospiceCare in 1997 after serving as Human Resource Coordinator at a local hospital and a skilled nursing facility. She is a member of the Boulder Area Human Resource Association and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.
