Polo on the Lawn: A Benefit for HospiceCare

The third annual Polo on the Lawn took place on June 28th and raised over $100,000 to support our compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their families. Four hundred guests cheered on four polo teams and their agile ponies during two captivating matches in which Alem International played the JKW Family Trust team in the Ashlawn Cup and Balfour Senior Living edged out LandRover Flatirons to win the HospiceCare Cup.

Hosted by Jeff and Kim Leeper on the expansive fields of Ashlawn, their rural Longmont estate, this year’s Polo on the Lawn treated guests to a gourmet lunch provided by some of the area’s favorite restaurants, including Arugula, Colterra, Jax Fish House, Laudisio, Radda, and Happy Noodle House. The highlight of each polo match was a half-time champagne divot stomp, during which spectators were invited onto the field to stamp down the divots created by the ponies’ quick turns and stops during play. In addition, guests enjoyed a best hat contest, and the camaraderie of good friends coming together for a worthy cause.
