No, other hospice providers can provide care. However, HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties is the oldest and only nonprofit hospice in our region. As your community hospice, we are committed to continually improving and enhancing our services in response to your specific needs. HospiceCare is certified by Medicare and accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), which was created to help the public identify healthcare providers that demonstrate excellence.

HospiceCare offers the most comprehensive range of end-of-life care solutions; the largest local, professional clinical team; more on-staff board-certified hospice and palliative care physicians; 24/7 support from professionals who have immediate access to real-time, electronic information about our patients; HospiceCare Plus for those in crisis; and the area’s only in-patient hospice care facility for patients whose needs are too acute to be managed at home. As a result, we’re able to provide the right care, at the right time, to everyone who needs it – regardless of ability to pay.

Everyone. Because we are a nonprofit organization that is in effect owned by and here for the community, our services are available to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Medicare, private insurance, and Medicaid cover most patient costs. Philanthropic support enables us to cover the cost of care that insurances don’t cover. Please contact us if you have specific questions related to coverage.

People often feel they need to wait until there is a terminal diagnosis to learn about HospiceCare, but our wide range of support services and educational programs are available to patients, family members and the community at all stages of life. Most families who have faced terminal illness tell us they wish they’d called sooner.

No. HospiceCare embraces a holistic approach to patient and family care that encompasses physical, emotional and spiritual support. Whatever your spiritual inclinations, HospiceCare chaplains are specially trained in issues related to death and dying and available to lend assistance. If you’re receiving help from a faith community, your chaplain will reinforce that connection while also offering compassionate, non-judgmental support based on your goals and beliefs.

A terminally ill patient may receive hospice care for as long as necessary after a physician certifies their hospice choice. Hospice care is not limited to six months. This extended coverage exists because experts agree that hospice care best serves patients and families when the partnership with the patient, family and HospiceCare clinical team exists for several months. This time together enriches the end-of-life experience for the patient and family, finding effective relief from pain or symptoms and offering special opportunities — to strengthen relationships, to put one’s affairs in order, to find spiritual peace, and to complete and celebrate life before, during, and after end-of-life situations.
