Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of the HospiceCare team. Every year over 300 volunteers assist in giving our patients and families the best emotional, spiritual, and practical support available; lend valuable administrative assistance to the organization; and play a key role at the HospiceCare and Share Thrift Shop. We select volunteers based on their qualifications; ability to deal with dying, death and grief; and availability to meet the current needs of our patients, families, and the organization.

Many volunteers offer to help because they know about our services firsthand. We ask applicants who have recently suffered a significant loss to wait a year before working directly with patients and families. There are many other ways to get involved at HospiceCare while working through your own process fully—our thrift shop, administrative support, or fund development.
